Different Views

Homosexuality is a phenomenon that happens in our beloved earth. There are different views towards this phenomenon. Some are pros, some are contras. In my opinion, I am the type of the contra. I cannot feel very comfortable being near the homosexuals. I can’t really tolerate their ‘existence’. I know very well that homosexuality happens from within the individual’s feelings. I have been trying quite hard to implant this ‘principle’ in my mind, but I just can’t get over my uncomfortable feeling. It feels very awkward whenever I am being around them. Sometimes, I’m keeping my distance whenever there’s a pair of gay or lesbian near me. I find my eyes looking unpleasantly at them. That’s why I always maintain a distance in order to hide my distressful eyes on them. For me, homosexuality is not right and has to be stopped. Yet, in other parts of the world, homosexuality is open and tolerated. For example is in Netherlands. The Dutch demonstrates its tolerant and progressive character when it comes to homosexuality. They also legalize same-sex marriage and recently they legalize children adoption by homosexual people. However, I’m being not so ‘friendly’ doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m a homophobia. I don’t hate the homosexual people; I just don’t like what they do. I would protest whenever I see any bad treatments to the homosexuals. For example is, when I read an article in the internet about the mistreatment towards the gay people in Uganda. Uganda now gives death penalty for those who are gay or lesbian. When I read that article, I yelled at the monitor (of my computer) and I babbled about how cruel and how inhuman Uganda is. In conclusion, up until now there are still pros and cons about homosexuality. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that we—the ‘straight’ people—could treat them like animals. Humans are created equal, and we are expected to treat the others the same, including the homosexual people. We may dislike what they do, but not the individuals themselves.
